Introduction to Oil Painting
Introduction to Oil Painting Workshop
Saturday October 4th, 10am – 4pm
Goolugatup Heathcote, 58 Duncraig Rd, Applecross WA 6153
This full-day intensive workshop offers a comprehensive introduction to oil painting, designed for complete beginners as well as a considered refresher for those with some experience.
Through structured teaching, live demonstrations, and guided painting time, participants will build a solid foundation in the fundamentals of oil painting. The day will begin by developing an understanding of value, light and shadow before investigating colour theory through the Zorn palette - a limited but powerful range of colours used by many classical painters. Finally, students will have the option of beginning an alla prima portrait study in either monochrome or full colour. Alongside technical skills, students will gain an overview of the properties of oil paint, mediums, supports, and safe studio practice.
The group is limited to twelve participants to allow for individual attention and feedback. All materials are provided, including brushes, tile palette and palette knife for each student to keep.
10% off early bird fee available only until September 1st.
