The last remaining work from Flight of the Battery Hens, this painting depicts the aftermath of the Judith and Holofernes story. Anxious and determined, the Judith figure attempts to hide the head of the tyrant who sacked her village. Less known as a scene than it’s more violent and famous counterpart, the concealment of the head of the tyrant captures the humanity and vulnerability in Judith’s character, reminding us that even the most strong and capable heroes are still human.
